Why did you become a vegan family coach?

I was listening to NPR one day and heard Atul Gawande speaking about his article in The New Yorker called “The Hot Spotters”. In the interview, he mentioned the idea of Health Coaches who help people manage their health on a daily basis and put their doctor’s advice into practice. I LOVED that idea. I loved the thought of being able to help someone take control of their health, make themselves well again, and help hand them back their power in their life.


How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you become a Vegan Famly Coach?

I became a certified Personal Trainer and certified Health and Wellness Coach in 2012. In 2013, I completed my certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition. In 2014, I became a Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coach. I coached for years around the general topic of wellness, which could include things like exercise, stress management, diet, or time-management. I was eating a vegan diet, but answered questions on diets in general, that included eating animal products. Instead of talking about USDA nutritional guidelines or the newest diet fads, what I really wanted to say in response to these questions was, “NO! Stop eating dairy! Stop eating meat! Stop eating eggs!” I wasn’t being true to me and, therefore, not being true to my clients.

In order to be completely honest with myself, live with integrity, and be 100% there for my clients, I switched my coaching practice to focus on Vegan Family Coaching. I realized there were many others like me, who also felt out of integrity with their values and just needed that final nudge to go for it and make the switch to vegan living. The final nudge, in my family, was a health scare. For you, it might be the fear of heredity disease or something else entirely. Now my coaching is pure, real, practical, and even more successful.


Who Are Your Clients, Exactly?

My clients are women and families who are ready to make a change to vegan living, once and for all. They may have had a recent health scare that became a wake-up call or realized they feel better when they eat a vegan diet. They may realize that adopting a plant-based diet is one of the best, immediate things they can do for the environment and their kids’ future, and certainly for the farmed animals viewed as nothing more than end products.

My clients are women with values, women who see the worth in making a change and use that to put in the effort and stay true to themselves.


How Are You Different From Other Vegan Coaches?

 I’m not a chef and I don’t develop recipes or meal plans. I work full-time, cart kids around, cook meals, grocery shop, and grew up on a meat-and-potatoes diet. Listen, I used to bite right into a block of cheese, and never thought about making a salad with a lettuce other than iceberg until I was in graduate school.

I’m here to walk you through this FOR REAL. No judgement, no beating yourself up, just sure and steady progress. I also know it’s not just about what you eat, there are logistics to maintaining a vegan diet. Because food is so important in our lives, being vegan really is a lifestyle. Together, we’ll figure out how to make it yours.


What Type Of Personality Do You Work Best With And What Is Expected Of Me?

My best clients are willing to put in the effort, take responsibility for their actions, try new things, and persevere. Making a lifestyle change is rarely easy and quick. But every effort (even a failure) brings you that much closer to success. You have to take action to make change.

Women who KNOW why they want to make this change, will be successful. If you are someone who can connect to a strong reason for doing what you are doing and gather strength from that reason, we’ll do great! I expect you to have a clear motivator for success.


For What Type Of Person Is Your Program Not Going To Work?

My program is not for someone who wants a solution handed to them. This is a lifestyle change and everyone’s lifestyle is different. This needs to be a joint effort.

My program is not for someone who is “kind of” interested. Again, this program is meant for your success, which means you need to be fully on board and fully participating. It needs to mean a lot to you.


What Exactly Is Your Vegan Family Coaching Program And What Does It Include?

 My program will give you the knowledge and tools to create and support your vegan diet at home and at large. You’ll learn the ingredients, the tools, cooking methods, and the substitutions available to keep you healthy and happy with your new way of eating. Together, we’ll find solutions and work-arounds to any of the obstacles (and cravings!) that pop up during daily life. You’ll develop the resources and knowledge base to help you navigate any life situation.

What Results Can I Expect?

You can expect to gain control over your health and well-being. You will know how to create meals that are nourishing and health-promoting. You will learn that you absolutely can eat in a way that is true to what you want for your body, this planet, and other beings.
